Rotary engine featuring an integrated transmission and an adjustable pitch propeller hub.
Rotary engines stand out for their minimal vibration and efficient performance within their optimal speed range. By incorporating advanced materials in key areas, we’ve tackled the traditional challenges of rotary engines, ensuring reliability that matches or even exceeds that of conventional 4-stroke engines.
Highly effective for sustained operation at constant speeds. Built for airplane-type UAVs with high electrical loads and VTOLs.
Fuel system: The R300 is equipped with a two-stage electronic fuel injection system. Part of the mixture is formed by injection into the intake manifold directly into the combustion chamber. To compensate for altitude, the engine is equipped with an electric supercharger whose performance can be smoothly and arbitrarily changed depending on the operating conditions. The fuel pump and pressure regulators are duplicated for reliability. Reliable starting and operation of the engine are guaranteed on a wide range of fuel grades. From aviation/automotive gasoline to heavy fuels (aviation kerosene and jet fuel)
Hybrid system: The power plant is integrated with an 11kW generator and a reversible electric booster/starter. Using a booster allows you to briefly increase the power of the power plant, for example, on takeoff or when performing active maneuvering. Using a powerful integrated starter ensures reliable starting even on heavy fuel and at significant negative temperatures and low atmospheric pressure. Up to 10 kW of electric power is available for consumers at cruising speed or up to 2 kW at idle speed when the propeller is not rotating.
Cooling system: Liquid, double-circuit, duplicated with two independent cooling loops, two radiators, and two pumps. The failure of one of the circuits allows you to delay the loss of the engine or continue the flight with a decrease in power. Variable capacity cooling pumps will enable you to maintain the optimum temperature during operation and smooth cooling after the end of the mission.
Transmission: Integrated gearbox with ratio 1:3.2. Equipped with a centrifugal idle clutch (the propeller does not rotate until the engine reaches 3000 rpm). The gearbox housing is an oil cooler. A brush block is built into the body to control the variable pitch propeller. The gearbox is equipped with oil temperature sensors and sensors for the presence of metal chips in the oil. The data from the sensors is transmitted to the control unit via the CAN bus.
Variable pitch propeller hub. Electronically controlled blade angle drive, 52-degree swing range. Transfer speed from end to end position is less than 3 seconds at maximum load. A collet-type fastening of the blade is used, so the installation “neutral” angle of the blade can be arbitrary. The maximum allowable blade root diameter is 40mm.
Materials and technologies: The engine casing is milled from dural alloy forging. The combustion chamber (stator) is formed from a thin cast-iron sleeve and cast-iron side walls to the reverse side of which labyrinth cooling channels are connected. The rotor is hollow, cooled by the fuel mixture, and made from an aluminum forging. Apex channels are electroplated. Seal apexes are tungsten carbide, and sidewalls are ground and anti-seize coated. The crankshaft and internal gears are forged steel. Bearings operate on polished and hardened surfaces. The outer surfaces of the engine are hard anodized and primed. All fasteners are stainless steel or titanium. All connectors are sealed, mil-spec.
We offer a “Developers Kit” – engine on a subframe suitable for mounting on a dyno, a set of radiators, pumps, a fuel system, an ECU and a wiring kit, with software control documentation (API, necessary source codes).
